5th Annual Combined State Conference for New Hampshire National
Guard Enlisted (NHNGEA) and Officer Associations (NGANH)

A Call to Action

On Saturday, March 28th, the NGANH and NHNGEA gathered from 0900 to 1330 at the SERESC Conference Center, 29 Commerce Drive in Bedford, NH. A robust gathering of over 90 members and corporate partners enjoyed presentations on a variety of issues affecting our members.  Key note speakers included U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, U.S. Congressman Frank Guinta, and the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Peter Burdett. The National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) Legislative Director Colonel Pete Duffy (retired) briefed the audience on a number of legislative priorities. He also detailed the harmful effects of the 2011 Budget Control Act on National Guard funding if Congress doesn't stop future across-the-board military budget cuts. In addition, Colonel Duffy was awarded the Wentworth Achievement Award for his unwavering support of past, present, and future members of the National Guard and their families.  Shawn Riley also received the General John Sullivan Award on behalf of his wife Lt. Colonel Stephanie Riley.  Stephanie was an integral part of making the NGANH a vibrant and effective organization and served both at a local and national level.  She will never be forgotten by those having the distinct privilege of serving with her on active duty and in the NH Air and Army National Guard.  We humbly dedicate this year's conference theme of a "Call to Action" to her enduring propensity to be a kind and caring mother, wife, nurse, and officer.

Legion de Lafayette

National Guard Association of New Hampshire (NGANH) became a member of the Legion de Lafayette. The Legion de Lafayette (LDL) is an organization reserved for the largest donors to the National Guard Educational Foundation (NGEF). NGEF was established in 1975 to tell the story of the National Guard. It operates the National Guard Memorial Museum and the library, which holds more than 6,000 volumes and documents related to the militia history of the United States. It also supports members of NGAUS and their families with scholarships and educational benefits. Thank you to all the generous donations that made this possible.

NGANH former President and NGAUS Board of Directors member Maj Gen Bill Reddel (Area 1, TAG), joined by NGANH Board of Directors members Todd Swass and Tony Picano, accept the LDL award on behalf of NGANH.

NGANH former President and current NGAUS Board of Directors member Steve Greco (Area 1, Air) accepts the LDL Medal on behalf of NGANH.

Why Join NGANH

The NGANH is a state association that reports to and works in conjunction with the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS). Membership is the lifeblood of our association, both at the state and national levels. Your continued support enables both the NGANH and NGAUS to have a crucial voice on Capitol Hill, supporting our Soldiers and Airmen as they perform their state and federal missions.

Our Guard members and their families must receive the best possible equipment, training, facilities, and benefits. This national obligation is especially challenging with looming cuts to the defense budget. We continue to remind Congress of the important role the National Guard plays as the most cost effective alternative. We were founded as a militia nation and now it is time for us to return.
